28th June 2023 Longstock Water Gardens and Leckford Farm Cafe

Once again, we were grateful to have access to the beautiful Longstock Water Gardens and Leckford cafe for a day out with some of our group members.

During the hot spell of weather we had in June, we were lucky to have chosen one of the less hot days and we enjoyed an hour of wandering around the beautiful, peaceful water gardens, with a little shade from the trees, waterlillies in bloom, plants with beautiful flowers and foliage, and ducks sleeping on the grass.

We followed this with a cream tea in the Cherry Tree Cafe which is in the Longstock Park Cafe grounds. Superbly waited on by Karen and her team who brought the refreshments out to us in the Cherry Tree Cafe.

We then had a look around the Walled Nursery Gardens where you can walk the stunning 80m herbaceous border and this walled garden is also home to the Buddleja and Clematis collections with a Clematis archway running through the centre.   A quick shopping trip in the Leckford Farm Shop and the Garden Nursery Shop completed our day before heading home.

Here are some of the many photographs from our day out and we are already looking forward to going next year.

6th December 2022 Christmas Meal

For this year’s Christmas meal, we returned Turtle Bay in Winchester where we’ve been a couple of times, and which is always full of atmosphere and good food.

We booked a table in October 2022 and we’d pre-ordered our menu choices again and collected all the money upfront so we were free to have a fun-filled evening!  21 group members arrived early on the night to take advantage of the 2for1 cocktails and mocktails before 7pm and to get the party started!

We had the perfect area in the restaurant this year, with 3 smaller tables for our group so we could move around and chat to other members of the group without annoying the other diners. Our young waiter took our many alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks orders and supported by the other bar staff, kitchen staff and other waiters and waitresses, we all had a really good evening.

The food was delicious – starters, mains and the scrummy puddings – which led to loads of empty plates and dishes and much sharing and sampling of each other’s food!

The evening flew by and we had to quickly select our “Secret Santa” presents from our Santa sack before taxis and lifts arrived for some. Others hung around for a little longer, sharing secret santa present opening and yet more photos, until we were down to the final 3, paying the bill and enjoying after-dinner coffees before walking back to the car park.

What a lovely evening – a good venue, good food, drinks and wonderful company.  We missed lots of the ladies who couldn’t make it this year, but we hope you can join us next year.

We have some lovely photos to remember the evening.
